Furniture Purchase Procedure

The Code of Virginia requires the University to purchase furniture from Virginia Correctional Enterprises (VCE). We must use VCE, unless VCE does not manufacture the goods required and/or VCE grants an exemption allowing the purchase from a commercial source.

You may use the Departmental Order for Purchases\Payments (DOPP) form purchase products from VCE valued up to $2,000. If your purchase is valued above $2,000, you must submit your request to the Purchasing Department on a Requisition for Purchase form.

Catalog price includes shipping to your delivery dock. See http://www.vcedigitalworks.com/vce/order.htm for specific delivery and installation information. If you want inside delivery, be sure to add a line item on your DOPP form or Requisition for Purchase form.

Written releases which allow purchase from commercial vendors are granted if VCE has nothing compatible with the requirement, or are unable to meet the required delivery. VCE will not grant a release after a purchase has been made.

1. For orders less than $2,000, compare specifications and prices with several vendors including the Office Supply Contract vendor (Boise Cascade). You may place an order with the vendor best meeting your requirements.
   • If Boise Cascade is the vendor of choice, the department can fax a DOPP form and a copy of the approved VCE release form to Boise Cascade's customer service, FAX (800) 642-6473. The department shall maintain a copy of the VCE release with their order file.
   • For orders over $2,000, submit your requirements with a copy of the approved VCE release form on a Requisition For Purchase form to the Purchasing Department.
